The Chicago Bar Foundation (CBF) mobilizes our legal community to use their time, money and influence so that low-income and disadvantaged Chicagoans can access the legal help they need. Through grants, advocacy, pro bono and partnerships, the CBF takes a system-wide approach to improving access to justice.
The CBF relies on the generous contributions of thousands of dedicated individuals and more than 150 law firms and corporations to accomplish our work. The CBF is the charitable arm of The Chicago Bar Association.
The CBF’s vision is that all people in the Chicago metropolitan area have equal access to justice and that Chicago’s legal community fully embraces its leadership responsibility to uphold this fundamental American principle. Our vision reflects our recognition that as lawyers, we are the guardians of our justice system, and also reflects our belief that we will not be able to achieve and sustain equal access to justice without the legal community fulfilling this leadership responsibility.
The CBF’s mission furthers our overall vision by working to bring the full force of the legal community to bear on this issue and then taking a comprehensive, system-wide approach towards improving access to justice that recognizes that there is no “one size fits all” solution to ensuring equal access to justice.
