On Monday, August 13, 2012, ADR Systems hosted its second Annual Charity Golf Outing, raising money for The Chicago Bar Foundation. The CBF thanks ADR Systems for their efforts and very generous donation, which will help ensure that everyone in the Chicago area has equal access to justice, particularly the low-income and disadvantaged people who most critically need the protections of the legal system.

More than thirty attorneys and retired judges came out to support ADR Systems charity event and show off their driving skills.

A New Record in Grants at a Time of Record Need

Fiscal year 2012 was a record year both in terms of the total grants the CBF awarded-more than $4 million-and the number of pro bono and legal aid organizations and initiatives the CBF supported-more than 40 organizations. Good deeds earn recognition

For people concerned about both legal aid funding and those who need access to the justice system, attorney Cynthia A. Wilson offers a message.

“Help is on the way,” said Wilson, a clinical associate professor at Northwestern University School of Law. “Everyday, I and my colleagues work with smart, committed, hard-working students and they are outraged about the lack of access to justice for low-income people and they are willing to find innovative ways to tackle this problem.”

Wilson, along with eight other lawyers, received pro bono and public service awards Tuesday at The Chicago Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Foundation 14th annual Pro Bono and Public Service Awards Luncheon. About 700 people attended the event.  Read more. . .

Study shows how legal aid gives economic boost

As the executive director of the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, Leslie Corbett said "it's important for legislators to understand what a dollar buys us."

The foundation receives state money — usually about $1.75 million a year — under the attorney general's budget and distributes it to legal aid groups throughout the state.  Read more. . .
