New CBF incubator will open
The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin

The Chicago Bar Foundation will start an 18-month incubator program that will help recent law graduates launch solo practices to serve modest-income clients.

The program will strive to match up law graduates who struggle to find jobs with modest-income clients who don't qualify for legal aid but can't "pay for traditional legal services at market rates," a CBF draft proposal says. Read more. . .

 

Lawyers get $50K to use on school loans

Adela Carlin fought back tears as she stood before a crowd at the Chicago Bar Foundation (CBF) Monday night to accept a $50,000 fellowship toward her student loans. "I cried when I got the call," said Carlin, who spent the last 12 years working as a staff attorney at the Legal Assistance Foundation (LAF). "It has changed our family.
